Duo Dagmar and
Jozef ZSAPKA

This duo belongs to the most stable instrumental combinations of its kind. It was founded in 1979 and due to its intensive artistic activities it became world - renowned. From the very beginning they have been strongly influencing Czechoslovak interpretative art, which they present all over the world with great success. They have performed in Japan, USA, Australia, England, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Greece, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Cuba and the many other countries. Many composers were inspired by their playing - among them e. g. Jorge Cardoso, David Babcock, Igor Recbin, DuSan Martincek, Peter Martincek, Stepan Rak, Filimon Ginalis, Vitazoslav Kubicka and others who dedicated their pieces to this duo. Their repertoire is extremely wide as it includes music of all stylistic periods. Critics rank them among the worlds top performers

Dagmar ZSAPKA is a prominent Slovak flutist. In addition to playing the duo she performs with renowned symphonic and chamber ensembles. Public and experts have appreciated her brilliant technique, beautiful sound and the way she j differentiates musical feeling according to the particular style of the piece. She has been invited to lead international master classes/ Spain, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Slovak Republic.../ and she regularly records for broadcasting and TV studios as well as for recording companies. At present she is a professor at the Conservatoire in Bratislava.

Jozef ZSAPKA is ranked at the top of the Slovak performing art. His concert activities are wide-ranging, he performs in the duo and as a soloist not only at chamber concerts, but also with prominent orchestras. He is a recognised teacher, music director and organiser of the International Guitar Festival "Johann Kaspar Mertz" - in Bratislava well - known event having a long tradition with participation of prominent guitar players from all over the world. He is regularly invited into the international juries of guitar competitions. He has led master lasses in Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Hungary and elsewhere. The many - sided artist acts also as an editor (mainly of those compositions dedicated both to him and to the duo) and as a Professor at the Academy of Music in Bratislava.
