Sante TURSI

Sante Tursi was born in Bari, Italy, where he studied at the N. Piccinni Conservatory, obtaining a first-class diploma, summa cum laude. He continued his studies with Alirio Diaz, Jose Tomas and Mauel Barrueco.  He subsequently studied with Oscar Ghiglia at the Chigiana Academy in Siena and at the Musik-Akademie in Basel.
He has won prizes at major international competitions including the first prize at the 33rd Tokyo International Guitar Competition.
Sante Tursi has performed in Europe, Asia and America, appearing in the most important cities and festivals including Verona and Rome and for the Ginastera Days and the Walton Foundation as well as Tokyo, Russia, Mexico and London.
Sante Tursi gives Masterclasses and teaches gutiar at the N. Piccinni Conservatory in Bari.
He has released two CDs for Rainbow - one on 19th century chamber music and another dedicated to the music of M.M.Ponce.

Sante Tursi will be performing UK premieres of guitar duos by Angelo Gilardino, with fellow LACCS-UK artist, guitarist, Romilio Orellana in the Purcell Room on Wednesday 25th February 2004 at 7.30pm.
