Carlos BARBOSA-LIMA

Acclaimed as one of the world´s great guitar masters, Carlos Barbosa-Lima is widely recognized for his extraordinary skills as a performer and arranger of various musical styles for the guitar. He has toured the world extensively as a recitalist and as soloist of many major orchestras.
Born in São Paulo, Brasil, Barbosa Lima started on the guitar at age 7, and gave his concert debut when he was 12. He studied with Isaias Savio and the legendary Andres Segovia.
With an impressive and extensive career, Barbosa-Lima has contributed to take the guitar into a higher artistic dimension and expanding its technical reach with his brilliant arrangements creating a wide literature of styles ranging from Classical , Jazz, Brazilian and Latin-American, giving to all of them his distinct touch and great artistic personality.

Many composers of distinction wrote landmark works specially for Barbosa-Lima , such as Alberto Ginastera, Francisco Mignone, Bobby Scott, Byron Yasui, Guido Santorsola, Ernesto Cordero.

Barbosa-Lima's discography extends over 40 recordings and his recent releases "Mambo nº 5" and "Natalia" on Khaeon Records explore the rich heritage of Latin American and Caribbean music.
